My Little Artists
With this great weather, we moved the painting easel outside, so I wouldn't stress out about the mess. The kids were so excited and blew through the paper and paint like crazy. I have a stack of about 50 paintings that I have no idea what to do with. These pictures, in Matthew's words, are "Me and Daddy riding on a giraffe." and, "Me and Daddy and a beanstalk and a sun."
Summer Heat
With record temps around here, we've had to get creative to find ways to stay comfortable and of course, entertained. We went through hundreds of popsicles during the last few weeks, even found a local place that sold REAL Hawaiian Shave Ice and visited our friends who live on the beach. It's in the distance, but here is a picture of Matthew's first fishing trip with our friend, Mike. They were out in the canoe for over 2 hours on the 100+ degree day. Best place to be, probably.

Happy Birthday Matthew!
We celebrated Matthew's 4th birthday this month with a visit to the library, out for pizza and bowling, home for naps, out again for a mexican dinner and home again for Rocket cake with the grandparents. It was a great day and we just can't believe how big he is getting. Matthew can now write the whole alphabet, write the grocery list for me and his drawings of people and elephants are getting more and more recognizable. Happy Birthday Matt!!!!

Christmas Tree hunt
We went out the day after Thanksgiving to get our tree, and it only took about 3 minutes before we found it! Here is also a picture of Grace wearing my dress from my childhood. She loves it and I think it's slightly out of style, but she can probably get away with it being her Christmas dress this year.

Hawaii
The kids and I left poor Clint behind as we set out for a Hawaiian adventure. Actually, the adventure was more during the airports, layovers and long flights to get there. Somehow we made it and had a wonderful week with grandma, great-grandparents, my aunt, 2 uncles and 2 little cousins. The kids fell in love with Hawaii and did not want to come back home. Can you blame them? Matthew learned to swim on his own and Grace thought she was a real-life Hula Princess. They experienced shave ice for the first time which was a big hit with everyone. Also, Matthew and I had a few "smoothie" dates down at the Kona Inn while my mom drove Grace around for a nap in the air-conditioned car. Me with a lava flow, Matt with a strawberry-banana something. Mmmmmm!!! We can't wait to go back and bring Clint next time!
